Science Learning Partnerships (SLPs) combine local expertise in teaching and learning in science, facilitating CPD, and providing school-to-school support. SLPs are led by schools and colleges with cutting-edge expertise in science themselves who collaborate closely with local partners: the SLP for the Tees Valley and County Durham is based at Carmel College in Darlington and provides quality, subject-specific training for teachers and STEM activities for students in all phases of 11-19 education in the area. It is part of a national network of SLPs and other support for schools that is managed by STEM Learning.
We also work with schools on an individual, Trust or local authority basis to provide bespoke support to meet the differing needs of schools across the area.
The SLP’s commitment to STEM education is the basis of our whole offer:
- Delivering teacher CPD in STEM subjects,
- Bringing STEM role models into schools as part of the STEM Ambassador Programme
- Providing bespoke support and CPD on an individual, Trust or local authority basis to meet the differing needs of schools across the area.
- Working with groups of schools in collaboration with industry through our ENTHUSE Partnerships
Our aim is always the same – to provide a world-leading STEM education for all young people across the UK. We don’t do this alone! We work in collaboration with the DfE, employers large and small, science organisations and educational establishments to deliver positive STEM interactions for teachers, young people and beyond.
