Since embarking upon my PGCE Primary programme, through Durham University, in partnership with St. John Vianney School and Children’s Centre in 2017, I have been continually learning and developing in terms of both my practical and pedagogical understanding. The professional and fast-paced atmosphere that exists within the school’s community serves to elicit the very best from the staff and pupils who collaborate here, resulting in a close-knit community of learners embedded in trust and hard work, illuminated by the light of Christ.
In terms of my own development, I have been fortunate to have taught in a variety of year groups, most recently Year 6, which has afforded me the opportunity to engage with the transition process, additional external CPD and moderation tasks. Each of these aspects, together with the fantastic support of colleagues and distinctive ethos of the school, has enabled me to grow continually develop my own practice. I would not hesitate to recommend the training process to anyone who is diligent and motivated enough to give their all to this singular opportunity.
